In the first week I have learnt about the programmable machine which called a computer.
Now I know that there are two basic components in the computer, Hardware (physical parts) and Software (Programs). During the first week I also learnt the four operations that computer can perform (Input, Processing, Output, and Storage). The computer hardware includes: input devices, output devices, system unit, storage device, and communication devices. However, computer software includes: System software and Application software. For me, the most interesting thing in that week is when I learnt about the number systems, Decimal, Binary, Octal, and Hexadecimal. In this part I have learnt that the most basic unit of information in computer is Bit. It is a state of ‘0’ or ‘1’ (‘on’ or ‘off’). I also have learnt that Byte equal eight Bits (Byte is the smallest state of a computer storage). Decimal number system has ten digits from 0 until 9, Binary number system has two digits 0 and 1, Octal number system has eight digits from 0 until 7, and Hexadecimal number system has sixteen digits from (0 to 9 )and then(A, B, C, D, E, F). I also have learnt how to convert from system to another.
