The third week

During the third week, I have learnt about the intangible part of the computer (software).  Therefore, I have learnt that software is divided into three categories which are system software, application software, and programming language.  I also learnt about the software layers that are Application, Operating system, Device Drivers, and System software. The types of system software are Operating system, and Utility program. I also learnt the functions of the Operating system which are starting and shouting down the computer, providing a user interface, managing memory, managing programs, coordinating tasks, configuring devices, establishing an internet connection, monitoring performance, providing file management and other utilities, updating software automatically, controlling a network, and administering security. I also learnt two types of user interface which are graphical-user interface, and command-line interface. After that I learnt about the Programming language; a language for a programmer to communicate with a computer. There are two types of programming language that are low level language and high level language. Low level language has two types machine language and assembly language. However, high level language is divided to third generation, fourth generation, and fourth generation. High level languages convert to low level language by compiler or assembler. Then I learnt about personal application software, workgroup application software, enterprise application software, business application software, and communication software. Moreover, there are four types of application software which are commercial software, shareware, freeware, and public domain software. After that I learnt how to buy, install software, and remove software.  Then I learnt how to compress a file, system restore, system backup, and system repair.
